I use small Japanese glass seed beads and nylon thread to weave the setting for these unique Czech buttons. The stitching looks like filigree and contributes to the vintage feel of the finished drop. The V shaped wire is 100% modern and means the earring swings a little lower making for a slightly showy earring.

The color of the button changes in the light and as it moves with flashes of blue/purple under the pink. I call this a starfish but it can also be a flower. What do you see?

The finished set button is .75 inches. The earring measures 1.75 from the top of the sterling V shaped ear wire. Glass and thread mean this is a very comfortable earring to wear all day, everyday.

The Czech people have made glass products in the area around and outside Jablonec for centuries. Their beads and buttons are machine pressed but finished by hand. Their buttons were the height of fashion for decades, but styles have changed. Today, there are just two brothers in their 70s who continue the tradition. These earrings are a piece of that history.
