I paint portraits inspired by the colors, textures, and rich visual metaphors of the natural world – from flowers and fungi to foliage and fluffy clouds.
I rely on a language of scribbles, shapes, and swooshes of color to document, make sense of, and celebrate the beauty & the messiness of the human experience as we navigate the uncertainty, the nostalgia, the despair, the joy & everything in between, one vibrant brushstroke at a time.
Each brushstroke is an invitation to daydream – each swirl of color is a journey to somewhere meditative, somewhere familiar, somewhere nostalgic, or perhaps somewhere new. Stacey Pydynkowski is enchanted by the magic of the creative process – the way pigments merge to convey a spectrum of emotion and depth beyond the confines of language. She collects and preserves her favorite flowers and uses the petals as inspiration to create emotive, mixed-media, nature-inspired paintings of seasons, feelings, and memories. She is a painter, muralist, educator, cancer survivor, and advocate for art in public spaces to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to connect with and find comfort and strength in visual imagery. She holds degrees in studio art and psychology from Saint Vincent College, and her nature-inspired paintings and public art pieces are displayed throughout the Western Pennsylvania region and beyond. She is a member of Associated Artists of Pittsburgh and her art is represented by Firebox Art Studios in Carnegie, PA.
