Maria’s original art is often described as enchanting and colorful, bringing her vibrant imagination to life. Drawing inspiration from people, places, and personal experiences, her work is a beautiful blend of creativity and storytelling. She uses a variety of mediums, including acrylics and watercolors, to create large-scale pieces that captivate and inspire. The subject matter of her work is diverse, and her style shifts to suit each piece, ensuring that every work of art is unique. Maria also reproduces many of her pieces and accepts commissions for custom artwork, allowing clients to bring her exceptional vision into their own spaces.
| Maria DeSimone Prascak is a self- taught artist best known for her custom murals, fine art and painting classes in her home town of Pittsburgh, PA. She has been creating art professionally since 1982 from her art studio Maria’s Ideas perched on the hilltop of the south side slopes.
In 2019 Maria partnered with the National Aviary to design and teach on site art classes. The classes have been quite successful, she is currently teaching art classes in person for the National Aviary. Virtual and in person 2021, 2022, 2023 Pittsburgh Penguins, PPG Paints. Multiple team building events for PPG paints and other organizations as well as private classes. Maria’s murals and creativity can be seen throughout Sarris Candies in Canonsburg, PA. Deigned and painted murals with inspirational quotes throughout the entire 13th floor at UPMC Western Psychiatric in 2024. A mural in the learning center at National Aviary, and art in their gift shop. Multiple murals at The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, PPG Paints Arena, numerous local restaurants, cafes, homes and businesses. Live painting for The Pittsburgh Steelers and the National Aviary, PPG Paints, Making Minds Matter /WPH UPMC. Maria’s art is sold online at local art shows and exhibits such as her sole exhibit at Pittsburgh’s Federal Courthouse 2019, and a Pittsburgh piece in the North Hills Art Center 2024. She was the featured artist for the National Aviary’s Wings & Wildlife Art Show 2017 and has been teaching, selling her paintings in their gift shop since 2015 to present day. Featured on local tv, radio and a variety of publications her art is current often influenced by her life. Much of her art can be seen in public places. She is active in local communities “giving back” aiming to inspire others through her work and teaching painting classes. She volunteers teaching at Little Sisters of the Poor in Pittsburgh each month since 2015. Maria is the producer, co-host and teacher for her volunteer award winning cable show in Bethel Park Cable TV/BPTV “MARIA’S IDEAS Teaches Us To Paint”. Maria is immersed in art and works closely with her client’s bringing their ideas to life. She is grateful and humbled to serve others through her art. Making others happy is inspirational and motivates her to continue serving others through art. Art Heals. Teaching and encouraging others, especially seniors to use their creativity, perhaps learn something new has been the most meaning artistic endeavors in the past 43 years as a professional artist.
