My paintings and photographs are a medium for me to access and process the world. I am on the autism spectrum and have found my camera to be a safe viewing place and an effective key to access a neurotypical world. I use it to document and translate a fast, tumultuous, and often unjust world. I switch between black and white, and color, as well as experimenting with techniques to understand my community and further. My work offers insight into society and my home of New Mexico, through the lens of someone who is neurodivergent. My paintings serve as the response to those observations. They are an investigation into my own thought processes; a kind of meta creativity. In a way, photography is how I step outside myself to understand others, and painting is how I delve deeper into myself to understand why it matters
